Our drop-in hours are facilitated by a fellow bereaved parent and our social work student,

Steven (he/him). Steven has shared his feelings below.

“When my daughter died, the world fell apart. And not just for me and my partner, but our parents, siblings, heck, even our cousins, aunts, uncles, you get it. They were all shaken and shocked. I remember so many of them calling me to ask how my partner was doing, and how I was doing in supporting them and to encourage me to stay brave, stay strong, and keep supporting my family. Do you see anything missing there? Anything wrong? No, not many do sadly, and it’s no one’s fault. Too many men die a silent death afraid of judgement or ridicule or seek out quieter, yet riskier ways of coping, and I’ve come to realize that anything mentionable is manageable, through open dialogue and vulnerability, we can save lives. I invite my fellow partners to join me during PILSC drop-in hours and no longer be the strong silent type, but the strong open type, together. “

Meet others like Steven at the centre!

We hope to see you soon!

Book with Erin Winters

In order to book with Erin, please connect directly with our Program Assistant, Shelagh via email at shelagh@pilsc.org

NOTE: Refrain from providing detailed personal information when emailing Shelagh. Feel free to describe your challenges in brief, and leave out personal details that you only wish to share with Erin.

Shelagh

Shelagh (she/her) brings with her a solid background as an admin in a variety of areas from business, academia and now with a charitable organization with the Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Center. She feels passionate about working in a role that benefits others in the community.

Shelagh was exposed to bereavement and deep grief at an early age and it left her with a profound sense of how fragile life is and how we need to find joy and light wherever we can. She feels privileged to be able to take this sense with her into her role with PILSC while putting her strong admin skills to good use.
