No Cost Comfort Boxes

The mental health impacts of pregnancy and infant loss are profound. Researchers have found that 29% of birthing people who experienced a pregnancy loss, had anxiety, depression and PTSD-like symptoms for an extended period of time after the loss.

The above statistics demonstrate not only the high number of losses that occur but also the long-term impacts that pregnancy and infant loss have. The topic is highly stigmatized and a deeply isolating experience. Receiving tangible items of support and comfort can make a huge difference to families navigating grief.

What's in Every Box?

We have intentionally created comfort boxes to gift at NO COST to someone navigating the journey through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, termination for medical reasons (TFMR), abortion, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), or infertility.

No Cost Comfort Box

Our usual comfort boxes are thoughtfully curated in partnership with female-owned entrepeneurs and BIPOC-owned businesses. Due to high demand, these boxes are currently out of stock.

While we restock, we are offering a temporary comfort box option created through the Kits for a Cause program. These boxes are assembled with care by volunteers and include a selection of comforting, practical, and supportive items. Each item is chosen to support rest, reflection, and small moments of comfort. Each box contains:

  • A New Way to Grieve Workbook by Aditi Loveridge and Danyelle Kaluski
  • Candle
  • Forget Me Knot Seeds
  • Pencil Crayons and Pencil Sharpeners
  • Hand Lotion
  • Sleep Mask/Ear Plug Set
  • Lip Balm
  • Shower Steamer
  • Notebook and Pen
  • Message of Hope Card
  • Cinch Bag

Note: These boxes are open to anyone in Alberta who has experienced a loss within the last 6 months.

No Cost Indigenous Memorial & Ceremony Box

We are so grateful to Dow Canada for funding and partnering on a new pilot project: No Cost Indigenous Memorial & Ceremony Boxes. These boxes have been intentionally curated alongside Indigenous community partners and Fiddler Kiss Consulting. The boxes contain intentional items that allow you to participate in a culturally significant memorial or ceremony as an Indigenous family who has experienced loss. These items have been meaningfully curated and have been blessed by an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper Daisy Giroux. Each Memorial & Ceremony Box contains:

  • MIND: Embers: One Ojibway’s Meditations by Richard Wagamese
  • MIND: Journal by Loft Designs
  • BODY: 4 Prayer Ties
  • BODY: Ceremonial Tobacco by Nation Imagination The Aboriginal Gifting Co.
  • HEART: Relax Me Tea by Raven and Hummingbird Tea Co.
  • SPIRIT: Strawberry Spinach seed packet by Alcla Native Plants
  • SPIRIT: Leather Pouch
  • SPIRIT: A Light Remains Candle by Land of Daughters

We are restocking! Please check back soon or sign up to our newsletter to be notified when they are available again.

Note: These boxes are open to Indigenous families in Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan who have experienced a loss within the last 2 years.
